flash (macromedia) : Video in Flash as used on Ellen Degeneres' Website

What is being done here is this:
Ellen is shot on a green screen.
In Premier or After Effects Chroma key is used to remove the green
background.
The area of the website that has the video in it is placed as a still image
within the video.
To see what I mean, right click and zoom in, it's very obvious up close.
You will need Flash04Pro, or some kind of program (Squeeze, After Effects,
etc.) to create
the flv or swf file to place in Flash. I don't think the import for video in
flash is very good, I use Squeeze.
Hope this helps,
Jon

Hi Everyone,
A flash beginner who is trying to build my own website. I came across the Ellen Degeneres website as a fan, and I am completely entralled by the designers use of video when you first hit the page. It is an html page that has the guts of the website built in flash. I am wondering how the heck they incorporated the video of her on the bottom of the flash page. This is the second video I have seen since her website debuted. I would love to know how they were able to create that. I have several video programs that can create streaming content, and I have Flash. If someone could send me somewhere to check out a tutorial or post some way of putting that in a flash movie for myself, that would be awesome. I am sure there are others out there who would love to know how to create that look. Thank you for all of your time, and I look forward to any help that is provided.

Basically the whole bottom part were Ellen is, is a flash. As she pops up when the site loads (opens) is part of a time line....Nothing hard in that....Yes it is an html page but the flash is embeded... so for all it's worth it is 90% flash....and 10% html.....

Thank you Discman for your quick response. Do you believe that they used the video in the time line then? So, I should look at tutorials for bringing in video to Flash to occomplish the same effect? I think it is an interesting effect on the page. Any other help would be great!

Could be they just call for another flash movie to be imported into the main flash....

Hi Jon,
That sounds like a pretty good way of doing that video with the "green screen." I never thought about that. I just think that it is a pretty cool idea for the website. I am not sure exactly how I would want to use it for the site I want to make, but it would be fun to play around with it. I am wondering how I might program that in Flash? Any ideas?

Hi Don,
I would create a separate fla with the video embedded. Then I would use the
loadMovie("video.swf", target); so the video.swf
would load and play after the main website has loaded. The flash part is the
easy part, getting the video color balance and compression right would be
the hard part.
Good luck and if you run into a snag, let me know and I may be able to help.

ellens site was definitely made with a green screen. But i wonder how macromedia created the presentations that can be found on this page.

http://www.macromedia.com/special/mx2004_upgrade/dreamweaver/?promoid=fma_home_upgradepromo_111103

it has vector images that fly in behind the talking body - which is pretty impressive. I wonder if somehow you can create a mask that uses skins to follow the talking object? Anyone have any idea's?

it is true that she is blue screened and exported in after effects.
but the one thing that everyone is missing is the fact that the entire
site is made in flash. not one section of the page is html. this makes
the site much easier to create.

the best way to do this is to make a load movie so you can create new
messages and name them the same as the original clip (intro.swf).
this technique has been used on may car sites but they used white
background illiminating the use of blue screen.
