flash (macromedia) : Flickering

I have been struggling with this one for a few days now, I
am really hoping someone here can help. Every time I view
a page with Flash on it I get major Flickering on the
Flash itself. Even when I start my Yahoo Instant
Messenger, if I start a chat with Flash in the IMVironment
Yahoo sees there is a problem and warns me there is an
issue with IE. All my other browsers handle Flash fine
(Opera and Mozilla Firebird), it's only IE that seems to
be having the problem.

Flash had been working fine on this box for months.
Nothing was installed recently on the box before the
problem started.

Here is my set up
Windows 2000 Running IE 6.0SP1

Here's what I have tried
- Completely uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer
(with accumulative patch)
- Uninstall and reinstall Flash
- Play around with the monitor refresh rate
- Change registry setting to enable "Force Offscreen
Composition"

Join the club, I haven't found a solution yet but if I do I will post it here.

I think I have found the solution. Upgrade to the latest version of DirectX (you can download it from the Microsoft website at http://www.microsoft.com/directx/. This fixed the flickering problem for me.
