A newbee I am.
Could someone get me started in the right direction ....
In Flash, how does one animate the drawing of a line?

It seems simple to motion tween a graphic symbol, but to animate the drawing of a line from like one side of the screen to the other, escapes me.

[quoted text, click to view]

you not slow , flash isn't just too friendly at starting point.

ANimated drawing line could be done in many ways.
Using Drawing API , which require quite a bit of action script ,
using Frame By Frame animation or Shape tween or Motion tween and MASK .
Frame by frame would be easiest. Just draw entire line you like to show.
Click on timeline right after that frame and hit F6 to insert new frame .
On this frame delete bit of it . Do it again , add frame , delete more of it .
Make as many frames as you need . On the end , when you reach no line left to delete,
highlight all the frames of the animation with mouse , make sure they turn black,
right click and pick REVERSE FRAMES.
This will place last frame in place of first and first in place of last.
Why Reverse frames ? because is much easier to have entire image and cut bit outs
of it till there is nothing left , than draw it backward from noting to full line.
Reverse frames will than put it in right direction.

Motion tween or shape tween and mask.

Make entire line on one layer , above layer make shape tween that from tiny rectangle
stretch to full size rectangle in size of line . Convert that layer to Mask
and you will have line reviling itself gradually.
Same thing could be done with Motion Tween , just scale the shape using transform tool.

By the way

Please include the nature of the problem in subject line.
Some of us who reply posts got lots of other work to look after
and we scan the forum through by topics and if topic not really cover our area
than we will skip it . Threads like Please Help , Can't make
it work , I'm lost , PROBLEM etc... etc.. got high chances to be skipped
by number of users and your answer may take longer than you would expected .
Also other users who search the forum by subject here or in Forum Archives
won't be able to locate the post and find answer because it does not
include any key words.
