button in MC won't work -- flash (macromedia)

flash (macromedia) : button in MC won't work

Hi, I am a beginner and been cracking my head on this problem. Button can't
work in MC even just a simple rollover. I even tried to put the button far
from the other elements so that it would not overlap but still failed.
Please help.

my guess is that you apply button events to movie clip.
like movie.onRelease or movie.onRollOver
you must know what once movie clip is given button events it start
behaving like one and automatically any buttons within that clip will be disabled.
