see topic. Basically, I was trying to avoid having to recreate the same graphic twelve times, so I copied a button and pasted it. Now, I can't edit one without it changing all of them. (I want each to say something different in the over state.) Is there a way to make it so these buttons are no longer linked?

Whe you cut and pasted, you were making duplicates of the instance of the Library symbol, not the symbol itself.

You should instead duplicate the original button symbol in the Library panel, then drag an instance of the new button symbol onto the stage, and edit *that*. If you've already laid out the original buttons, you can use "Swap..." in the Properties panel to replace them with a new button symbol.

Hope this helps.
