flash (macromedia):
For all who have been looking for a resolution to the Flash install problem...I've been looking since January 2003.

I came across this at...

http://delltalk.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=oplex_video&message.id=6015

Goto page 4...

Follow these directions provided by Dell forum member "part11comp"...

Here is the answer to this problem. The permissions under the following registry need to be reset:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup

1. Run regedt32
2. Navigate to the key
3. Click on Advanced and make sure the following accounts have the correct permissions:

Administrators | Full Control | This key and subkeys
Power Users | Full Control | This key and subkeys
System | Full Control | This key and subkeys
Users | Read | This key and subkeys

I have many imaged GX's and all of them had this same problem. You'll also notice that you can't deploy Service Pack 4 on them and it's because of the same problem.

Dan

....

Good luck all! Craig

Mate... same boat as you. My only problem was that I have configured 20 or so new Dell GX's as well, and only ONE of them had this INF Install Failure. Hence, I thought it was something I had done in the config/install/administrator/user process.

Thank you SO MUCH for posting this not out of need of response, but altruism.

Very much appreciated.

Scott.
