flash (macromedia): I am learning flashMX pro with a tutorial cd but they are using the non-pro version.
During one of the tutorial steps they simply create a dynamic text box and click and drag a scroll bar from the UI COMPONENTS menu. So far so simple .... nope, on the pro version there is no scroll bar, there is a scroll pane, a text area along with many others but after searching through these forums I can't find the answer..

Hi thanks for the reply, you were right I was running MX 2004 which was different from the tutorial I was running, I downloaded the trial of regular MX and this should make the course much easier to follow..

It must be flash MX or flash 5 tutorial as MX 2004 has no longer scrollbar at all.
Perhaps try to check out HELP files, search for TextArea which is the scrollbar
substitute.

Also try to update the help , I'm not using MX 2004 but remember few people mention
there has been some help updates as well.

the scroll bar component comes in the devnet CD which you have to buy from
MM.

You have to update flash mx 2004 components library.

Just go to the following link and click on "Flash Communication Server Authoring Components Updater for Windows "

after install, restart your flash mx 2004, you will find the scrollbar component along with other flash communication server components. :D
