Thanks for getting getting back to me again!
To answer a few of your questions:
Can you tell me if you are specifically attempting to download the installer from this URL:
http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/triggerpages_mmcom/flash.html Yes. That is the URL that comes up when I go to download the player from the Macromedia site.
Do any security warnings show up and is your browser security settings set up to allow installable content from Macromedia?
No security warnings come up; I have my security set to the lowest setting. There are other things installed from Macromedia (shockwave), so I can't see why it wouldn't allow Flash.
Can you post a screen shot of the error page you receive?
No. It comes up on the bar at the bottom of the page where Javascript messages come up while pages are loading and whatnot. Yes, I have reloaded Java, too.
Have you tried to reboot your machine after installation?
Yes, Every time. No joy.
Have you tried to completely uninstall the player before installing player 7?
http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/ts/documents/remove_player.htm Yes, tried that, too. In fact, after I did that (uninstalled the current version I had which was 6), when I went to try to put version 6 back on, that wouldn't install either.
Are you installing over a 56k modem?
No. Cable modem.
Do you have the Flash authoring tool installed? (Any version
Not that I know of. I haven't put one on there. How would I check (yes, I am an idiot when it comes to these things)
Have / can you try installing the plug in on another machine?
My stepson's computer already had it one there when he got it, so no, I haven't tried doing anything with his.
Do you get the same problem with the shockwave player or any other web plug-ins?
No, shockwave installed very easily. I haven't had any other problems with anything else, either. Just Flash.
Thanks for the help, Ken
