flash (macromedia): Ok I can tell just from browsing the forums that I am so new to Flash it is not funny. I can edit flash a little and modify it slightly. But I am really looking for either one of two things.

I want to either find a great resource to learn how to do flash, or..

I want to find a great resource with alot of different template in flash that I can either get for free or purchase and edit it from there.

Really the first option is prefered. Basically I want to know how to get items into flash, and how to make them move. Thats what I want to start off with.

Anyone feel like mentoring me in designing with Flash?

Ah look, another brand new question that no one's ever asked before... ;)

www.flashkit.com
www.ultrashock.com
www.flashsupport.com

As for books, look into the Flash MX Bible and search Amazon for others.

In my case I started off with

Macromedia Flash MX Training From the Source.

I may well be slightly ahead of you in my learning. You mention mentoring. Well I will help If I can:

Brintonwhite2@aol.com

Website to look at - Highly recommended:

http://www.vtc.com/

This site has video tutorials for flash. You might have to reset your screen resolution to access the rewind option. You will need quicktime to view the videos.

Well... Flash is very easy to learn initially but you will find the difficulty when you are going deep into ActionScript.
Once you start learning you will find it very interesting and you will keep on going... It's my experience.

You can contact me for any kind of technical help.

www.friendsofed.com has some really good books on Flash, starting
from beginners, going up as far as advanced ActionScript.
They're mostly tutorial based with rela-world examples, so they
should get your creative juices flowing as well as teaching what
you need to know...

Good choice....!

No - in terms of the basics, the layout is better.
The main difference is in Actionscript

Flash is the most addicting thing I've ever done. There is a point, a line... if you will ... that you will cross and never look back. Find something you like, a tutorial, or what not. Try to do it on your own, then once you have convinced yourself that your way is the right way... look at how they did it. It's a killer on the ego, but also the best way to learn.

Keep on truckin :)

I agree that Friends of Ed books are the best on Flash, but they went
out of business, didn't they, with the rest of Wrox. I know I bought
up a lot of their books from Amazon, when I heard they'd gone bust -
but there's a rumour that they may have been "rescued".
