flash (macromedia) : Newbie Questions: Importing Graphics - Positioning, Resizing & Converting

Hi All,

You'll have to pardon me if my queries would seem silly or really dumb, but
I really am a very new to this kind of "programming", especially since I
feel this is more for intermediate animators or media designers . Although
I've covered all of the basic lessons of the Flash 5 tutorials, I still have
a lot more "basic stuff" to run through, so I'll keep these as simple and
shoooooooooort as I can:

1. POSITIONING: Mostly I'd like to import and thus "re-use"...GIF
files...and although they automatically become "animated" in Flash...they
seem to all get automatically positioned on the left-uppermost corner of the
work area. I know each flash frame is a bitmap of the gif image located in
one spot so I can move them one by one but (using CTRL K).... Is there a way
to "move" them all at once to wherever position/location within the work
area I choose?

2. RESIZING: Speaking of the work area....how do I "define" the entire image
flash dimensions? What I mean is what if I choose to create a flash banner
that has a scale dimension of 200px wide & 50px high with all the animated
stuff just interacting around within it....do I define it while still in
Flash or do I let HTML tables take care of it???....the latter way doesn't
seem promising coz it gets messed up on the web somehow...or am I going
ahead of myself.. I can't seem to get the right combination/settings on the
Publish Settings to make the flash screen just the right size.

3.CONVERSION: back to graphics...now, I know about animated gifs turning up
in the Library as numbered bitmaps and I sort of stumbled upon how to "edit"
them and turning them into vector graphics with the Trace Bitmap
command(s)...however, again, do I have to "convert" and edit them One by
One??? Is there a way to "batch process" them??? I mean, it's ok if it's
only like less than 10bitmaps...I could probably change the background color
of each one easy...but...ughh..you know what I mean...

Well, I hope I asked "good enough" newbie questions :)

PS: Oh, sorry one more thing...how do I permanently "Saved" whatever I
converted into the "Common Library"...hmmm..I think I got that one :)

Cheers!
