hi,

wonder if it's possible to create a music video entirely in flash. if yes, how does the synch works between sound, video images (if any) and vectorial drawings.

I already program in actionscript, I'm also a graphic designer. and I mainly work on websites at the moment, but I would be interested in creating videos aswell.

thanks for replying

synch in flash works by importing your sound onto main timeline and setting its behavior to "stream" - that way it gets embedded into the timeline and will sacrifice frames if need be to keep up with animation - make sure to use graphic symbols if animation needs to be in synch - and dont use scenes as you will not be able to stretch the song across scenes without a noticeable *glitch* in the audio - reason is you would have to edit where the song ends in previous scene and fudge it where it should start in following scene.

thanks for your answer, I also would like to know if I need to set my movie at a specific size for it to appear properly on tv. I take it that my sound can't be compressed so I should use a wave instead of a compressed mp3 (?). I haven't found tutorials on the net about creating videos with flash. is it common. when I watch some music videos it looks like some of them are made with flash...

there's a lot of flash being used for broadcast animation....
720x486 should be used for broadcast.
as far as audio format - if you are going to export from flash as a video sequence and then assemble your project on say an Avid - i recommend bringing MP3 format into flash to keep FLA size down - because you would want to delete the audio track before exporting - and once it's in your final post production editing program - i would then use an uncompressed stereo version of the audio and match it back up with the animation to achieve the best quality.

if doing it all in flash - use WAV or AIFF format 44.1 stereo.
