My spec:
Windows XP
AOL 8.0 (england)
HPSP56 MicroModem
I've been trying to get flash for a very long time but everytime i click the "Install" button it takes me to the trigger page, the page loads up but not Security warning or anything so nothing happens the page just loads with two blank areas where flash content should be with little symbols in the top left corners of a pice of paper with three shapes on it if there is any OTHER way of downloading flash or any tips (that aren't too obvious because i'd have most likely tried them). Flash is EVERYWHERE nowdays so i need it asap as i've been trying for a long time to get my hands on it.
Please e-mail me at: LucifersTear@aol.com as i probably won't come here to check for answers as it takes so damn long to get here <rolls eyes>. Thanks

Are you sure that your browser has ActiveX enabled?
If you are using Internet Explorer, take a look at the settings by
going to the Tool menu, selecting Internet Options...,
select the Security tab, click on Custom Level...
then finally check your settings under the
ActiveX controls and plug-ins.

One thing to look out for is of course that
Download signed ActiveX controls is
set to Prompt. You can at the same time check if
Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins
are set to Enable or optionally Prompt
(The later would be more secure).
Be careful when changing these settings, as it can hurt more than
help in most cases and leave your computer open for
maliscious operations.
But changing that one (optionally two) setting I told you about
shouldn't bring your computer to any harm.

One thing that I find strange, is that XP should already come
with the Flash player installed, since Microsoft actually uses Flash
for their little intro feature.
You might have some other issue here, so I would put my 2 cents
that it has something to do with your ActiveX settings.

In any case, good luck with your problem!

It may be wise to turn off any adaware, antivirus, or software firewalls
before trying. You may also have it installed but something is wrong. Try
uninstalling it by going here...

http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/ts/documents/remove_player.htm

Once you've done everything to uninstall, you may need to restart and then
try again. Those are my suggestions.

Hi,

I've been trying to download Macromedia Flash player online, but when I click the icon to download, I get a box up saying the following:

'Do you want to install and run "http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cam"?

The publisher cannot be determined due to the problems below:

The object to be verified is unknown to the Trust Provider.'

Then it has the boxes 'Yes', 'No' and 'Info'.
I clicked the 'Info' box and this is what comes up:

[quoted text, click to view]

This software does not have a certificate, so it might not be safe to install and run on your computer.
A certificate contains information that a specific software program is genuine. This ensures that no other program can assume the identity of the original program.
The software publisher has not obtained a certificate for this software from a recognized certification authority, so the authenticity of this software cannot be verified.
Given what you know about this software, its publisher, and your computer, you must decide whether to proceed with installing and running this software.

If, given this information, you still do not feel confident about installing this software, then click No.<<

I've still been clicking 'Yes' each time I get the box up, but nothing happens.
I go to the test page, and apparently, Flash has installed, but I know it hasn't. I have been able to download Macromedia Shockwave, so why can't I download Flash?

Please help me with this.
Thanks
