flash (macromedia):
I want to create a website and CD for displaying drawings and
paintings. I would like to display images of these artworks in rows,
where once you mouseover or click, the image is magnified and centered
on the screen in a smooth, gradual fashion. The effect I'm looking for
is similar to the mouseover effect of the program icons on the "dock"
on an imac's OS X.
The images, (which I would think can't be vector based) have to
remain clear and not pixelated, even when enlarged. Can I achieve this
effect with Flash? If not, are there any suggestions as to which
program would be best suited for this type of thing? Thanks in
advance.

Yes, flash will do this. Make a thumbnail/button with a mouseover that
loads a 'big_picture.swf' in an empty.swf in a higher level. In the
'big_picture.swf' make a tween that looks like it's enlarging. Make sure
you have a button on the big picture that will remove the big_picture.swf.
