Mark,
Nice site, and nice example. I also noted on the MX link the pop-up window
opened automatically. The MX2004 link I had to push the "Enter" button.

Have you tried viewing these with Flash Player 7?
Just a thought.

years and I don't plan on stopping. The program really has some great new
features, but there are a lot of annoying changes and missing functionality,
but the biggest complaint I have with MX 2004 is that it's FILLED with bugs
and is not backwards compatible. For all of you non- believers I created
this example:

Macromedia create a patch and fix some if not ALL of problems mentioned
here. They hinder us all from creating product and in turn, selling their
product.

First off I love Macromedia, I've been a Flash developer/animator for years and I don't plan on stopping. The program really has some great new features, but there are a lot of annoying changes and missing functionality, but the biggest complaint I have with MX 2004 is that it's FILLED with bugs and is not backwards compatible. For all of you non- believers I created this example:

Example A:
One of our site's I created in Flash MX and published for Flash 6 player:
(keep your eye closely on the opening wave animation)

http://www.compenv.com/start.htm

Example B:
The same exact .fla opened in MX Pro 2004 (never saved or changed in anyway) and published for the Flash 6 player:
(keep your eye on the same opening wave animation)

http://www.compenv.com/mx2004_publish6/

Notice the drop outs/flickering animation? those are simple masks and shape tweens that MX 2004 can't render.

I made this example not to bash, but because I would like to see Macromedia create a patch and fix some if not ALL of problems mentioned here. They hinder us all from creating product and in turn, selling their product.
