HELP! newbie2004

flash (macromedia):
I purchased a FrontPage template (complete with html and .fla files). Can anyone tell me how to import it into Flash MX 2004 so I can edit it.. I have located the file in my directory (winzip directory that it was downloaded into originally), and can open it to what I assume is the stage.

All I really need to do is replace the pic that is embedded in the flash graphic, and assume I can edit just that specific component and upload it back to the Frontpage template when I'm done.

ANYTHING you guys can tell me would be much appreciated.. I've been working on this @(#*#*$& thing for about 4 hours (lol)..

Thanks in advance from a desperate newbie!

Being no expert myself I cannot guarantee what I say is correct (about anything). However, i assume you are referring to changing an image in a 'swf' file. I do not believe you can do this, you need to have the original 'fla' file to do this

Just read your message more carefully, you are looking at the 'fla' file. Surely you can just open it with your version of Flash and find the layer in which the image resides and replace it. Press control and enter and create an swf with the same name. It should automaticallly be replaced in the html file

Or am I wrong - and it would not be the first time

OK.. I think I see the problem.. Perhaps I got ripped off! The entire template is supposed to be customizable.. I do have 2 .fla files, but doesn't appear that I have one for the movie.. the file for the movie is an swf file and opens as a read only I would imagine... I do have html code for it.. any suggestions?

personally Im not a great template fan.

Are you able to use Dreamweaver or FP to kind of recreate what it is you want to achieve. If not, use either DW or FP to open the templates you have and hack them round (oops I mean edit them) until you have what you want

good luck with it
