flash (macromedia) : Play sound once?

Hi,

I have been away from Flash for a *long* time. Am using MX. Have a movie
clip that has a "swoosh" sound. At the end of the movie clip (frame 15), I
have a stop(); action.

In my main ovie, I have some text that comes onto the screen, stays for a
second, goes away, and the next set of text comes onto the screen, etc. I
want the "swoosh" sound to play each time the text comes onto the screen.

For some reason, the sound clip keep playing. For instance, if I just import
one instance of the sound movie clip, it plays as expected when first set of
text come in, but then in about 5 seconds, it plays again.

How am I to make the sound only play once?

I appreciate the help,

Lynn

Thanks for the info. I tried placing a stop all sounds command as an action,
but it did not see to help.

This seems so basic, but I am just not getting it to work.

Here's what I am doing...what am I missing?

I have a movie clip that has 15 frames. In fr 1 I drop my sound. In frame 15
I add stopAllSounds (); and stop();

Okay, if I take this movie clip and place it in another movie that has 1
frame, then my sound plays 1 time. Cool. If I add more than one frame, then
my sound repeats. Why? My movie clip has a stop all sounds and a stop
action?

Thanks for the help,

Lynn

inside the text clips they should only play once. if not, put a stop all
sound action at the end of each clip...

it to loop. I put a blank keyframe in front and it fixed it...

i have experience weird issues with sounds in flash - often the issue is sounds
being played well before they even exist on the timeline - no abvious reason as
to why - sometimes it happens after i add sounds to a timeline and then go back
and add another sound before them - all of a sudden some trigger too early -
pulled my hair out for a couple hours troubleshooting this - and i found a fix:
File > Publish Settings > Flash > set Audio Stream and/or Event to at least 24
kbps - that fixed it for me - sounds played when they were supposed to! didnt
matter if they were set to Event or Stream!
