flash (macromedia):
I need a postcard designer. The designer will allow the user to select from a
gallery of backgrounds. The user can then upload their own images or select
from a gallery of images to place images on the background. The user needs to
be able to move the images around and to add text to this postcard.

Can I do this Flash and without remoting? If so, are ther any examples or
tutorials I can follow?

Thanks in advance,
Drew

Hi,
there is no one answer to your post. All the things you've mentioned ARE
possible.

I don't really think you need remoting to accomplish this (unless there are no
other options). But, a lot of flash coding would be needed. And then some
back-end server-side language to save the changes or to recreate the .swf file.

This is how i would do it. Take it step-by-step.
1) Work on a image gallery which would allow you to load images dynamically
into flash
2) Work on the drag-and-drop (?) part of the flash file
3) Choose a back-end programming language that would allow you to write text
files or write to a database (that would store the information for each
postcard)
4) The back-end language should allow me to either mail the changed swf file
or send a link to the swf file.

Hope this helps in some way.

Cheers,
FF
