flash (macromedia) : Exporting Animated GIF - Stop Already!

I haven't used Flash in years and I simply cannot remember (or find) how to do
this:

I've got a flash animation that needs to be an animated GIF, but I don't want
it to loop forever. I want it to stop and stay on the last frame. I know how
to do it by adding an action and exporting as a Flash animation, but I need it
as an animated GIF.

Does the GIF format support an animation that runs through once and stops on a
static image? If not, is there a simple way to replace the animation with a
static image once the animation is done on the webpage itself?

Please help... thanks!

GraemeNickname,

Take another look at your export settings. When exporting as Animated
GIF, I see a field for "Animation: x repeat," where x is a number I
provide. 0 means repeat; any other number means "repeat that many times".
So I guess you might want to put 1.

Thanks for the reply David. Actually, I tried putting "1" in the animation
repeat field and it does only play once. The only problem is that it doesn't
stay on the final frame image. It plays, and ends with blank white. I needed
it to play once and stop on the final frame image (which is the organization's
logo.)

Anyway... it turns out they will accept a Flash file, and I can get it to do
exactly what I need in that format. Thanks again!

Graeme,

I'm glad it worked out for you, in any case. I would guess the white
square at the end of your GIF is the result of one or more empty keyframes
at the end of your timeline in Flash. Take a look there. No matter what
the reason, you can always open the resultant GIF in Adobe ImageReady (or
presumably FireWorks; whatever image editor handles animated GIFs) and clip
the last frame off.
