flash (macromedia):
You can also install the latest flash player from macromedia's web site. You
can install flash without installing the latest flash player in Explorer...

Getting rid of Flash player 4 for good Scully

Hi,

I am using Flash MX2004 which obviously included the latest Flash player
(7). However, when I click on a swf in Explorer the movie doesn't play &
when I right-click I see 'About Flash Player 4' or something like that. I
haven't used Flash 4 for ages, I bought this machine new in 2002 & I don't
think it ever had Flash 4 installed so I don't know where it came from. I
have tried using 'Open with' & browsing to the location of the new Flash
player but it only works once to open the current file, next time it goes
back to Flash 4.

Yes, I have ticked the box that says 'Always use this program to open this
type of file' & I have also tried 'Add & remove software' but the Players
don't show up there. The only way is to open the new player by itself & open
the movies from its file menu or drop them within. If I close it, they go
back to Flash 4. Everything's fine in IE but I often want to view swfs by
themselves.

How do I get rid of Flash 4 player once & for all?

Go to tools - Folder Option - File Types
Than CHANGE or ADVANCED to set the file default application,
icons and all that kind of stuff.
