flash (macromedia): So I seem to be getting this error whenever I use the transform/transition tool
for Flash MX 2004 for Mac OS X...

Error opening URL "While executing in [name of file], the following JavaScript
error(s) occured:

unterminated string literal
"

It also throws a popup window saying the javascript error: TypeError:
Object.fxutil has no properties.

Any clues? Thanks =)

I don't know about Windows, but for Mac users experiencing this problem, the
most common cause is an apostrophe in the name of the hard drive that Flash is
installed on. Unfortunately, the only workaround is to rename your drive.

Yeah, it's that's simple, and no, Macromedia hasn't posted this solution in
any official tech notes, probably because they're embarrassed that the major
update that was supposed to fix this totally missed the mark. The only other
advice they've come up with to date is to reinstall, which accomplishes nothing.

Once your hard drive name doesn't have any crazy punctuation marks in it,
their crappy Javascripts should cease malfunctioning and the timeline effects
feature should work as intended.

And as a nice bonus, if you use Dreamweaver, you'll get to reconfigure every
one of your site defs, because renaming your hard drive screws them up.
