flash (macromedia):
Hi. I feel like a heel for coming here and asking this, but I need help. I'm
adept at FrontPage, and I got a small job updating a Flash site. The guy
doesn't want to change formats, so I'm scrambling trying to figure this out.
Basically, it is a schedule, and it needs to be updated. I thought "how hard
can this be?". Well, after installing Flash5 and Swish 2 I am totally lost!
He hasn't sent me the ftp yet, but I was able to download the two html and
two .swf files. One is an animated homepage with a "click to enter" button.
The other is where the schedule is (buttons for each week appear like
hyperlinks, pictures & bios on each "page"). I can't find how to update!
Could someone give me a clue. I know I'll need to learn more (soon), but I
need to get ready to update this soon.

Thanks for any help you can give me

Ok, thank you. I tried to get ahead of the game and used httrack to download
the swf files and stuff from their directory. I will ask him for the fla
files. I do believe it was created in Flash rather than Swish. When I look
at the swf files in Flash if I play it it looks fine - otherwise I see about
60 little "stops" and nothing that seems to be editable. . when I look in
Swish, it's just a contorted version of it, and again no idea how to edit.

Thanks again- PSD to JPG I understand -
Everything else tonight has sounded like a foreign language!!

well, I just got done chatting with the owner, I sure hope he has those
original files. I would suppose they aren't on his ftp, and if he wants me
to take over where the other people left off, I don't know how I'll get
those .fla files. Hopefully I will know tomorrow.

If I get those, will updating be more clear? (sorry, I'm just so nervous
about this job)...

Whoever made this must give you FLA format. The authoring flash file format
which once done you export to SWF.
Just like photoshop PSD exported to JPG .

Certainly easier. Tho , considering fact that you new to flash ,
you might find hard getting around that tool.
Anyway , do not hesitate to ask for help.
We can help you up once you get the original source.
You could upload the SWF and tell us what is that you need to
change , based on your source file we could tell you where to
find it , just to make the updates less painful :)
