flash (macromedia):
Emma; Browsers place active objects like form elements and flash "on top". Setting the wmode parameter/attribute to transparent in the flash object/embed allows one to place html content on top in most current browsers (requires fairly recent flash ns plug-in as well), however I don't believe it will work with form elements--certainly not reliably across browsers. I suspect you will need to re-think your design. More on wmode can be found at MM's flash support (link under flash help). -Tom Unger
I have a flash overlay banner. How can I ensure that if it drops down in front of a form element the form element will not poke through the flash?? Currently the text input and the submit button are appearing in front of the banner. Any help appreciated.
I'm experiencing the same thing. I have a Flash object on a layer (with z-index at 9999999) and this layer is scroll-locked to a certain position on the screen by some setInterval javascript. As the page is scrolled up and down, this flash object always appears in the same place and is meant to be always on top. What actually happens though is that as it encounters different items on the page (form fields, form buttons, other flash objects etc) it goes behind some of them and is on top of others. Some are on layers, some not. I have wmode set to transparent but I don't believe that has any bearing on this. It's nothing to do with the transparent parts of the flash object, there are none. Are there any options I can set in the flash, or in the tag to it, that will make it behave like an applet and always be on top? ~dd
