flash (macromedia):
How do you convert a .swf file into a .exe file? There is a SWFKIT PRO online,
but it is exorbitantly priced $299. Does anyone know of a free or inexpensive
tool for doing this? Thank you very much. All help appreciated.

If you have the source file (*.fla) then you can easily do it. Open the fla
file. Then go to File > Publish Settings. Check off the box, Windows Projector
File (.EXE). Then click the Publish button. Is using the source file
unacceptable. Or do you have to convert the swf to the exe file?

Nope. :( When I get a CD and pop it in, I have an .exe pop up. The logo for
the company is on the upper left corner of the screen and the title of the
movie is Mensa. Also, there is no menu bar w/ 'File,' 'View,' 'Control,' and
'Help.' Also, if you right click, you don't get anything. However, when I
export from Flash, my exe icon is the flash logo, my title is Macromedia Flash
Player 6, and I have a menu bar. If I right-click here, I get 'About Macromedia
Player ' at the bottom. How can I make my exported .exe to be like the one on
the CD? Thanks for reading this.

All you need is Flash itself, and you can publish to exe. Or even just the
stand-alone player, which can let you save as an exe

Here is a list of third party tools which can do that, and allow you to do
things like change title, icon, make background of movie, add
expiration/trial dates, extend fscommand etc etc etc The first bunch are
screensavers only. The second bunch make fully functioned extended exe's
(and savers) from your SWF. The cheapest is LPFlashEX .. but last time I
looked the site was gone .. I don't know if it still exists. Next is
SWiSHstudio .. and it is very well featured. Prices tend to climb steeply
after that.

read my post and see all the tools there that let you do just that.

SWFKit Pro is probably overkill for what you want to do, and is one of the
most expensive tools around. Look at the cheaper <$100 solutions (maybe
SWISHstudio, SWFkit express, or Flash'n'pack)
