flash (macromedia):
I'm new to Macromedia and I am trying to put a video on a web site. If I'm
posting in the wrong place let me know.

I've learned how to make the file in a media player and how to publish. Now I
am left with the .fla file, the .swf file and the .html file. When I give
these to my IT guy to put up on the www the three files won't work. I have a
feeling it's because the media component is pointing to a .flv file on my hard
drive and my IT guy's computer can't reference it.

Is that right?

Is there anyway to make the component or the project file integrate all the
files into one useable file/folder that I can send to him?

Am I way off?

If the answer is too long to fit here please direct me to a tutorial or
something that can help me get over this hump.

Thanks for you time

ddsmovies,

[quoted text, click to view]

Just for clarity, what do you mean by "the file in a media player"? Are
you talking about Window Media Player?

[quoted text, click to view]

To publish a basic Flash movie, the only files necessary on the server
are the SWF and HTML, unless you're loading external media. The FLA is your
source and is only viewable to someone who has the Flash IDE (the authoring
environment).

That's very likely. Did you save your video clip as an FLV (Flash
Video) file? If so, then that file would have to go on the server too, or
in a place accessible to the SWF.

You can import the video directly (from AVI, MPG, etc.) and it will
become part of the final SWF. The SWF will, of course, be larger that way.
You would still need to provide your IT guy the SWF and the HTML file that
displays it.
