flash (macromedia): Hi,
I am curious about one of the parameters for the Bytes-Based Preloader
Progress Bar:

The parameters window has a setting called "Advance Point".... what is this
parameter? What does it effect?

The help button says there is no documentation available.

Thanks,
mike

Thanks for the reply NewsgroupUser,

Its been a while since I loaded them but I belive the collection of 4 Bytes
Based Preloaders came with flash. I am using MX2004 pro. If my memory is
incorrect then they came from the Macromedia extensions download site. I do
believe they are Macromedia supplied... I haven't loaded anything from any
other source.

In my components panel under Bytes Based Preloaders I have 4 choices:

Count to Zero
Progress Bar
Progress Circle
Regressive Bar

I am asking about a particular parameter listed in the component inspector
labeled "Advance Point"

Thanks again,
mike

Ahhhhh, its been a while.

I looked in my Extensions manager and found that these are from the flash
exchange:

Bytes-based Preloaders ver 2.0.0 Flash Component by Oscar Trelles

Documentation for these new components is available at
http://www.oscartrelles.com/flash/

Thanks for the gentle reminder... It got me thinking ;-)

Where did you get that component ? Does not sound like Macromedia's one nor
the parameter i would come across.
If it's 3rd party, please provide the url you got it from, there is way too many
recourse out there to be able to know them all.

Mike,

Sorry for the broken links in my site. Some of those documents were not
updated during my last site overhaul, but I just fixed them.

Regarding your question, the "advance point" parameters indicates at what
point of the download the movie will start playing. For example, this parameter
is set to 100 by default, indicating that the movie will start playing when
100% of it has been downloaded. In the same fashion, if you set the "advance
point" to 70, then the movie will start playing whne 70% of it has been
downloaded, and so on.

I hope this answer your question.

Regards,

Oscar

Wow Thanks Oscar. FWIW I have used your preloaders on many of my projects...
They are so easy to use. Thanks for making them.

I appreciate the explaination about the advance point parameter

mike.
