flash (macromedia) : After converting button to movieClip, can't add actions to frames

I initially created some buttons as, well, buttons. In order to do some other stuff, I decided to convert them to movieClips. However, even after the conversion (done in the Properties pane) I can't add actions (like the vital "stop()") to the frames of the new MC. Even if I add another layer, and make its frames keyFrames, I can't add actions to 'em. I get the message: "Current selection cannot have actions applied to it".

Flash MX. Grateful for any help.

Did you check that the behaviour is set to "MC" both in the property inspector and in the library?

Sometimes when converting a button to a MC, the object in the library remains being setup as a button though the conversion has been done in the property panel from the stage.

But anyway, actions should be added to a button timeline as well as a mc timeline.

Thanks, that was it -- listed as MC in one place and button in the other. I'd call that a bug in Flash MX.
