I'm trying to create a mist effect...what would you recommend? Any good images out there that could work for that?

I'd like to be able to alpha fade it up and down.

Thanks.

There are no fancy effects, but a good jpeg and a bit of a twiddle with the effects panel and thats about all there is. Use you could creat something quite stunning with Photoshop, a Airbrush and Flash.

actually - there was a very cool one over at daviesinteractive.com but andy's site is down till end of this month - but there's a similar one on flashkit:

it's all flash - all vector - using lines and shape tweens i believe. download source - it may give you some ideas.

If you really want good effect than frame by frame animation using some
raster images.
Flash in order to make decent smoke will require some gradients, duplicates and all in constant motion . Little smoke can turn very CPU intensive.
Not the case in images sequence.

Plus it can be done easily using brushes in random order .
