Greetings, How can this be? I've read the related messages from a search, and it seems there is a bug in Flash audio? I import a 64K mp3 file into a .fla which totals 216K on disk, right click on the sound file in Library and set the export to mp3, and voila, a .swf nearly three times the size of the .fla???!!!! Is Macromedia anti sound? Am I missing something? stevenjs "I am but an egg." --Stranger in a Strange Land
My guess is that you're bringing in a mono file (single-track) and flash is exporting it into a stereo (dual-track, left/right) file...in essence doubling the file (saving the data twice, once for each track)...to test this look at your publish settings and ask it to generate a size report for you on publishing...that will tell you bit by bit what your flash is composed of. Hope this helps.
stevenjs; If the sound is set to stream then looping will increase filesize since each loop will be stored in the swf. Another reason the sound might be larger would be that you are not using proper compression--what do the library properties for the sound report? Are you certain you are not over-riding the library settings with the global setting on swf export? -Tom Unger
Greetings Nez9 Thank you for responding No, I am importing a mono file, and exporting it mono. But I was incorrect. The original mp3 file is 32K, according to the size report I am, however, looping the sound as the motion tween runs. Would this triple the size of the .fla in the .swf? I find this file bloating woefully dysfunctional. And I had such a high opinion of Macromedia and Flash MX. ;-0 regards stevenj "I am but an egg.
