flash (macromedia) : quicktime video/audio

I'm trying to import a quicktime movie (.mov) into flash as an embedded video.
For some reason in the Import Video Settings window, I am getting the message,
"The audio in this file can not be imported." I thought Flash MX can import
..mov files with the audio

Is there something I might be doing wrong

Thanks

Hhmmm
I just tried and it works fine for me. Are you hitting 'file' > 'import' ? Is
it just the audio that won't import? Or the whole movie
Mabey the audio is some strange format, what that would be I don't know. Does
flash import 'midi' files? mabey thats what it is, I've never tried. I use .wav
and mp3 all the time with great results

If you want to post the movie somewhere I can check it out
Sorry, not much help

There it lots of products that export to MOV format. From digital cameras to
dedicated video encoders/decoders , screen capture program , you name it.
Most of them use individual audio compression setting , to optimize the
size it is ... Flash has particular audio format list it can support . Anything
beyond that won't be compatible.
Most of the files has the quickTime header so they can be run with QT player but
flash is more picky in regard to the files so there is many format it won't support.

Best solution is to use QT PRO player , open the video there , use the EXTRACT track option and
export the sound .
Import the sound to flash on one layer while video on another , set the sound to stream .
Beside having better SYNC you also can apply individual compression to the audio optimizing the file
further to obtain as minimal size as possible and best sound quality possible.

I am hitting, "file | import". It can import the video just fine, but it can't
import the audio with the video. I'm not actually encoding the quicktime video
myself...so I'm not sure of the process of encoding it. But I have tried other
quicktime videos before and the audio was imported

The videos are fairly large...so I'll try to get a smaller version and post it

Any other ideas as to why flash wouldn't be able to import the audio in a
quicktime movie

Thanks

Flash does not support the midi audio file. Have tried before and there is no
file ending listed for midi
Can you check your video and find what type of music file it has. Maybe you
could add sound to the video in Flash. That may be a possibility. Mario

could add sound to the video file in Flash. Think you can open video files and
add layers. Then you could add a sound file to the video. That may be a
possibility. Mario

yep, same problem here. I created a .mov file in iMovie and then imported it to
Flash Pro (PC version). I got the same error - audio track cannot be recognized
or something like that. Maybe iMovie uses some weird compression type to
compress the sound track???
luoifong, what software did you use to create your .mov file ? Are you
on a Mac or PC or both like I am
I will try to use manual settings for audio compression and will let you know
whether it worked
Did it happen after you installed the latest video update
