flash (macromedia) : Chipmunks

Hello all Macromedia enthusiasts and professionals

I feel like a total nubie asking this question but it has been a long day of
code pushing.

I have the task of creating a method to listen to some significantly large
audio files through one of my customers web sites.
They created the files in MP3 format upon my suggestion. My thought was to
just embed a little flash nugget into the appropriate
pages that loads the sound. I also included a button to play and one to stop
the audio. I am playing them as external MP3s because
of their size. Everything works in terms of the interaction. But when the
sounds starts playing, it sounds like someone is
fast-forwarding an audio tape. The sound is playing way to fast, resulting in
something that sounds like
a serenade from the Chipmunks. At first I thought it was the audio file.
After downloading it and opening it up in a sound editor,
it seemed fine. I recompressed a version at 8kbps to see if that had anything
to do with it. Testing results were the same.

What am I missing? MP3s sound fine until I play them through my little Flash
player.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I need to get this client off of
my RITS list (Rock In The Shoe).

Thanks

Thank you urami_. It worked like a charm. Now I just got to resample all of those audio files. Ugh! Thanks again. I truly appreciate your help.

Flash has limited mp3 support to the following :
16-bit 22 kHz mono/stereo
8- or 16-bit sounds at sample rates of 11 kHz, 22 kHz, or 44 kHz.

You must be at 12 or something like that.
Once you change , it will be fine .
