flash (macromedia) : Trial Version problem with paintbrush

meinmichigan;
Nothing to do with the trial, that is how drawing in flash works--the
brush strokes are going "behind" the image. You need to create a new layer
to paint over the imported bitmap, or group or convert the new paintbrush
shapes to a symbol (to "arrange them "in front" of the bitmap in the same
layer), Other more "specialized" options might be to trace the bitmap, or
break it apart. break apart the bitmap or trace it to vector...
Instructions for flash basics can be found in the included
documentation.

Hi,

I'm trying out the trial version. I imported an animated gif to convert to
flash to test it out. Trouble is, when I select one of the graphics of the
anim, and try to paint on it, I can paint but when I release click the
brushwork disappears. However when I paint on the page (off of the gif) the
brushwork stays on the blank page.

Am I doing something wrong or does the trial version just prevent me from
painting on imported gifs or jpg's?

Thanks anyone.

You're painting behind the bitmap. Move the bitmap and you will see the
brush strokes behind it.

You need to add a new layer above the one the bitmap is in, select it, then
paint on the stage. Also consider locking all other layers.
