flash (macromedia) : Fonts in User Interface Panels Unreadable

I have just installed Flash MX on my laptop running Windows XP but most of the
text in the Panels, for example the frame numbers in the timeline, is 'blocky'
and unreadable. Does anybody know how to correct this problem?
