flash (macromedia) : Flash Web Site Architecture

I am new to flash and unsure as to how most flash designers design their flash
web sites. I have read tutorials and books about Flash, but none mention the
proper way to build a web site. Not sure if there is a proper way, but I have
seen .fla files with all different types of architecture.

1. Whole web site is within one scene
2. Web site works across different scenes with each scene representing a web
page
3. Web site has a .swf representing each web page

Is there a standard way to develop a flash web site? Or is it personal
preference? Any rule of thumb? Thanks!

personally I make them according to the content.
My procedure is to basically make a template page then use that page to create
new scenes for each part of the web.
I.e..: Home, contact, about us....

Then if the individual parts have a lot of heavy bandwidth items I create
swf's to load in on those certain scenes as users request them.

Just remember it's a lot easier to use a short timeline than a long one. Also
it's a lot easier to update that timeline as you don't have to move all kinds
of things around. Another tip is to make all _mc's as there own timeline.

Good luck.

Don't confuse the word "scene" and "movie". Personally I find "scenes" to be
more of a problem than a help. I stopped using "scenes" years ago. Keep the
bandwidth down. Have your site load a movie. If the user wants to see something
in particular, then load that movie as needed. If you put everything in one
movie and break it up into scenes, it will take a long time to load your site.
Result is most people won't stay round long enought to see it.
