I want to have a button in a Flash animation with a link to start another
application, such as a video that would play in QT or a PDF file that would
open in Reader.

Anyone, anyone would know and how this is done?

USing getURL() should work; dependent on client settings however it could
bring up an open/download dialogue for users to pass.
