I have a movie with a preloader. I also have a number of sound objects that are activated through linkage to WAVs in the library. The problem is, the movie gets held up on loading (before the preloader!) on the first frame because the sounds are selected to export on the first frame. This totally defeats the purpose of having a preloader. When I un-select "Export on first frame" in the Sound properties, the audio doesn't load at all. Does anyone have a preloading method that takes into account linked sound objects?
Been looking for the same answer myself, looks like you might need to use separate MC instead of the call the audio... it is a pain, but I know no way around it.... It was discussed here.... I am DVSTEVE on this forum. http://flashmx2004.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1119
Here's a work-around. I unchecked all of the 'Export on First Frame' in the Linkage dialog, then I placed the sounds in the first few frames of the timeline, with sync set to 'stop'... It seems to include the audio in the preloader. Not elegant, but it works.
Actually an easy workaround is to load as a streaming mp3. 1. Simply upload the mp3 to your site.
You found the correct solution to the preloader problem. But the previous poster is right to ask you: Why not load MP3s instead? Maybe the user is waiting forever for all your WAVs to load, but do you really need to make the user wait for those sound files?
