flash (macromedia) : Stop() statement not working?

I'm starting to suspect there's an instability somewhere. I bought my computer
in January, and I've noticed inconsistencies in several programmes. I'm
starting to feel there's something odd either in the hardware or in the
operating system (XP).

What I'm finding with Flash right now is I put a stop() statement on the last
frame of the longest layer in the timeline. Are there any circumstances in
which the animation could still loop round regardless? Because that's what's
happening. It's doing it in the file I'm working with, and it's doing it with
simple test files.

I need to work out whether I've done something wrong in Flash, or if something
more serious is happening.

Yes, the most obvious of which is a gotoAndPlay somewhere before
the last frame. Run it from within the development environment
(Ctrl-Enter), and turn on the Bandwidth Profile (under the View
menu). Now you can watch the top of the screen, and see how the
viewhead moves. Does it reach the last frame before returning to
the beginning?

Thanks for that useful tip.

Actually the file is now working, even though I'm pretty sure the script's the
same as it was when it wasn't, so I still think something odd's happening with
my computer. (Or me?)
