After installing Macromedia Flash MX 2004 and rebooting, I get the following
error when I attempt to run it:

Title Bar: Flash
This program has perforned an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If thie problem persists, contact the program vendor.

Details:
Flash caused an invalid page fault in module FLASH.EXE at 017f:00c45437.

Any Ideas as to why Flash will not run would be appreciated as the program is
not being very helpful.

Error occurs just as the message Loading Toolbars... appears.

Does this product require that Real Player be installed?

I am asking because a noticed a reference to security.dll which is installed
with real player.

rdhddmazoku;
I can't see the rest of this thread in my newsreader, but are you
talking about flash 8? If so, you may want to re-check the minumim system
requirements--I believe win 98se is no longer supported... -Tom Unger

Nope. its version 7. Saw about 4 or 5 other instances of this on the internet.
Have no idea whats wrong, and usually if its not compatible with an operating
system it wont even install (there is a thing set up that checks it first and
then tells you you cant) and it installed perfectly fine, twice. Guess its just
a hate win 98 thing...

Flash MX 2004 is compatible with Win98 SE (second edition only). Flash
8 is not.

So compatibility is not the cause of your crash. You'll have to do some
more basic troubleshooting to try to isolate the cause...

http://www.macromedia.com/go/tn_14776 would be a good place to start
(disregard the safe mode step though. You can't launch FMX2004 in safe
mode. You CAN reinstall it in safe mode though, which is a good idea...
but you have to reboot normally to launch it because of the activation
scheme....)
