When I put a text transition (i.e: It fades in) it dosn't show up in my
preview, or publish preview... why isn't it working? It dosn't matter if I only
have the text effect, or if I have other things happening, it just dosn't show
up, mind you it is in my timeline, and if I click and drag the time line, it
does show it in my edit.

What could I be doing wrong?

I'm not using MX 2004 so won't be of much help but I would suggest
you upload the problematic FLA and provide link where interested party can
download it and check it.
Many flash problems can't be identify based on "does not work" , need to look inside ,
sometime you might overlook something very obvious and it's only waste of time trying to guess.

I'm totally new at this and I'm having the exact same problem. If I create a
simple movie with 1 word that's supposed to fade in, selecting "Control" then
"Play" shows it correctly but selecting "Control" then "Test Movie" shows the
text with no effects (same result in browser). Did you find a solution yet?
