flash (macromedia):
How do I make images transparent? I've just got Flash and I'm playing around,
and have been cutting and pasting images frm MS Paint and animating them, but
can't find the transparency option. I only want to get rid of the white
background. Thanks.

If you are importing images with a white background, then you cannot use flash
to remove any white. The only way you "could" remove white is to trace the
bitmap and then manually remove the white pixels. If you want an image without
any background, I would suggest investing in image software that will allow you
to export as transparent.

Ok im 13, and a beginner. If you want sumthing transparent like, for example, a
picture of a transparent piece of plastic, then you can just convert it to a
symbol and then click on the symbol and on the property inspector it should
have a drop down menu called color, with an option for alpha, change it to the
percentage you want. If you wont an image with a transparent background, then
you could use such programs as Jasc Paint shop pro 8, which i have, and i think
its good. It has a GIF optimizer to choose what parts, ect you want transparent
and how you want it to look. Very good, and getting cheaper.

hope this helps,

How do you have most of those programs mentioned but asked "such as" when I
mentioned image editing software? And if you did have those programs, why are
you using MS Paint? I mean, if you actually "paid" for those softwares, I
would think that you would know what they did before you bought them which
kinda makes me wonder if they were "bought" in the first place.... kinda
suspicious....

another option is to break apart the bitmap (Ctrl + B) in flash and use eraser
to remove white - but the best way to do it is to use Fireworks or P'shop or
equivalent and make area around bitmap transparent and export as PNG or GIF
file. then import this file into flash.
