flash (macromedia) : SWF File Size? Help! =)

Hey gang,

This is my first post and I would have normally done a search for this;
however, I am very new at flash and have no idea what I would be looking for.
Anyway, I have a 20meg movie file (wmv) and I am doing my best to place this
movie on the intro page of my web site. When I convert it from wmv to swf it
goes from 21megs to 98megs. I have uploaded this to my page and it works with
no problem. The load time is insane and it will play 10-15 secs at a time then
stop to load more. Now down to the question - Is my SWF file suppossed to be
this big? (98megs) Do I need to use a buffer for this file given it is the
right size? If it is the wrong size, what am I doing wrong to create a file so
big? Should a 20meg wmv file convert to a 20meg flash file?larger?smaller?
Does anyone out there have a *simple* buffer script that I can steal from you?
I know, I know..."whats with the 40 questions"; well, I have been able to teach
myself everything up until now and this is the last thing I have to do =) I
have been going crazy and in some cases I think my progress has been going
backwards.

If anyone has the patience to deal with me I would greatly appreciate it. It
is probably a very simple solution. Once again my apologies for not using the
search feature.

Thank you all in advance!

There is only ONE solution to your problem - DO NOT try and use a 20meg
video file as your intro. A good developer would get 40 or 50 ENTIRE SITES
done and still have change of 20 megs. Seriously. If you must have an intro,
it better be less than 100K or I (and many other people) are never going to
get to see your lovely site and all the great content you have there, cos
there is no way i am going to wait and watch even a 2meg intro, let alone
98.
