Mike,
Thank you for this well thought out reply. There have been about 5 people
out of the hundreds that visit this forum that have expressed distaste in
the weekly announcement we make here. I appreciate your point, and that is
why I originally stopped posting here for a period of several months. I
started again when I realized that 5 naysayers did not represent the entire
group of forum users. I have no problem with the announcements being
ignored, but there are people who want to see them, and that is who I post
them for.

Thank you for your feedback.

I have used these forums for several years and have found them to be very
helpful.

I must say that I tend to fall on the side of the volunteers who answer posts
here on this one.

It must be upsetting for them to see a service you pay for being promoted when
they are helping people for free, or for whatever reason they do.

Bill, I am actually interested in your service, but I truly believe you are
working against the ethos of the people who participate here by promoting it.

I am surprised at Macromedia endorsing your promotion.

Regards
Mike

MM are even changing the guidelines for the forums in order to allow Bill's
posts to meet them .. currently his advertisements fall outside the 'no
advertising whatsoever' rules. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with
the close ties between people at CommunityMX and Macromedia. Or maybe it
just good business sense for Macromedia who (like most people) are 'in it'
for the money (otherwise they go out of business).

Anyway, even though we may not like it, Macromedia have decided that
advertising on this forum is OK, as long as it is for products and services
related to macromedia products ,and as long as advertising posts have "ANN:"

A positive note: I found this particular thread while searching for help with
the TabBar component. I had been struggling to get it to work for three hours
on my own, to no avail. MM documentation is quite poor for this component! The
Tab Bar article at community mx just solved my problem, and elegantly at that.

I first searched the Forums here for a solution, but didn't find one until
this thread popped up.

To me, this is an example of excellent resources as working together.

Glad to hear you had success with it. The resources there seem quite good
on the whole. Its just matter of whether it is best for you to spend your
time looking for free answers, or spend money to get at one that is already
there. Most of the information you need is generally available freely on a
number of sites (urami has posted a long lists of such sites), its a matter
of finding it. Or course, its also a matter of finding it a CMX .. you're
just lucky that you saw and article that helped you there.
