objects must be symbols (i.e graphic symbol or MovieClip.)
Then motion tween the symbol between two keyframes, then select first
keyframe in timeline, then your symbol on the stage, and go to the
properties panel, set alpha to zero.
That's it, you have a fade-in. Do the opposite to make a fade-out.
