what is the best way to do this:
i have a moive clip which fly onto the page - i then want it to become a
button - i want the rollover state of the button to be a movie clip too.
i'm talking about the photos in the middle of this page

should copy and paste the last frames of the movie clip and then create a new
movie clip with them and place them directly on top of each and use them in the
different button states. or is there any easier way of doing this?
i'm sure this is an easy question so thanks for your patience.

It could be one movie clip all the way including all the actions.
You can apply all kind of button event to a movie clip ,
like
mcName.onRelease = function() {
this.play();
};

Won't need to make buttons and movie clips and more movie clips .
It can all be within one timeline of one movie clip.
