Hello,

I caught a tutorial at actionscript.org

http://www.actionscript.org/tutorials/beginner/Launch_Applications_using_Flash/i
ndex.shtml
That was about opening external applications using flash.

I download the files but have unsucessfully opened an external application.
I am using MX2004...this may be the problem.
Also, I remember reading something about this being a security issue. Is
there a workaround for this??

You were right about only having the ability to open external apps with a
projector.
You were also right about the fscommand folder. It is detailed in the
actionscript dictionary under the help menu.:)
I got it to work after many tries. I think the problem was that the file name
that I was trying to exec had numbers and dashes in it.
Thanks a lot:)

[quoted text, click to view]

MX and MX 2004 have new security features.
You must create FSCOMMAND folder, place your files in that folder.
This is where flash look for files when using EXEC command.
It is to prevent users from executing files on user drive and possibly
make some changes with command lines.

You might want to check Jugglor from flashjester.com and Jstart tool.
Pretty good for that kind of stuff.
Of course , I hope you know that all this works only in EXE projector.
it is not design for web.
