flash (macromedia):
I need to put the flash stand alone player on the CD with my application for my
users. I've filled out the forms and got the link from macromedia but I don't
know what to do with these two items I downloaded. They don't seem to do
anything. After unzipping I have two Installers, one is called "Install Flash
Player 7 (656kb), the other is called sw_pub (3,890 kb).
When I burned a CD with my application and these two installers and took it to
a computer with no flash on it ...the computer didn't know what to open them
with...sigh. That makes no sence to me. I have flash MX. I want my user to
use the flash 7 player if possible. I had some trouble with 6. Am I going to
have spend $200 to upgrade to get a stand alone player to put with my product?
I'm sure that's more information than anyone will read, but I'm really out of
my league here. I have a great application that I don't want to use with a
browser, I want to use a stand alone. Help!

HI Kay

If you are pputting your Flash onto cd you can save the main swf as an exe, in
this way your end users need not have the flash player

Select the swf you wish to use as an exe and run it. Click the file menu and
select 'Create Projector' you will be required to give it a name (it can be the
same as the original swf)

hope this helps

That would work except I must complicate things because.....All I have is a
..swf file. I don't have the .fla file. The .swf was created in Camtasia, not
flash. So the .fla file is automagically converted behind the scenes. In
Flash I can open the .swf file and play it but there is nothing under file that
allows me to make a projector. If I could make one that would solve my
trouble. Do you know a work around? Really good idea!

Using Flash you could create a main swf called main, for example, and load the
offending swf into that. In that way you could still save your 'main' swf as an
exe thus the end user could view taht and all loade into it

Ensure that you having nothing selected on the stage and open the properties
panel. Selcted the 'Flash' tab and use the dropdown menu to select flash player
7. But anyway, you should be able to view all your pieces using the exe

continued goodluck
