Hi,

As far as I understand, you cannot make Projectors intended for Intel
machines (Windows) from a Mac. They are not compatible. This is because
they are executable and the machine code instructions on Intel machines
are quite different from Motorola machines (Macs). My suggestion is to
get the SWF file to your Windows machine and create the projector there.

Patrick

hello.

i have been trying to create a windows projector on a macintosh via Flash MX
(not 2004).
the problem is it doens't work.

if i bring it to either a windows 98 or windows xp machine, i get a message
"this program cannot be run in DOS mode." from with in the dos prompt program
that runs when i try to open the file. the icon when on windows looks like a
dos prompt window.

for kicks i opened the projector file in bbedit and the error message is, more
or less, the first line of the file. i'm sure that's pretty meaninless. on the
macintosh, when the file is created, sometimes the icon is a blank page, while
other times it is a simpletext icon. no matter what i get the dos error message.

i have tried other flash files to no avail, thinking it may be the file i was
working on. also i have made flash projectors on other machines, burned them to
cd (via toast, hybrid and the shared hybrid mode as well) tried them on the
windows PC and they just don't work. i have also emailed the files to myself to
see if that would somehow change things. and that didn't work either.

i figure i am missing something pretty obvious.
the macintosh projector works fine.

any help is appreciated.

i think you may be misunderstanding my issue.

one can create a projector for a macintosh and or a windows box via flash MX
(and previous versions). i have done this in the past. the macintosh projector
working and the macintosh and the windows (.exe file) works on the windows
machine.

however, with flash mx i have a problem where the resulting projector for
windows (created via "publish" on a macintosh) is not working when brought over
to a windows machine. well, any windows mahcine. i have tried quite a few.

however, a friend also has a macintosh and she created a projector for me on
her machine using my file and it works. she even put that file up for download
and emailed to me (which i retrieved from my windows box email) and it still
didn't work. compressed or not, encoded in a variety of ways.

so, finally i went to her house, as she said the windows projector was working
on her windows machine. low and beholdit was, so i burned that file (from the
macintosh) and brought it to my windows machines and it WORKS!

however, it doens't explain why my windows projectors (for any file from flash
mx on my macintosh) are not working on any windows box.

it also doens't explain why i cannot receive that working windows projector
via ftp or email and have it work on a windows box. yes, i receive penty of
attachements forma variety of operating systems, and they work, or if not
generally it's an encoding issue. but this is not that.

perhaps that better explains my conundrum.

any additional help is appreciated.
