flash (macromedia) : How to make Dyn Text animate w/alpha?

Hi-
I'm on Mx04. And I'm using dynamic text with a standard text file and Dyn
text field on a frame. I've seen it on sites where they animate the dynamic
text to fade in. How is this done ? Do I convert the dynamic text field to a
graphic symbol or movie clip somehow ? If this requires action script,
please let me know and I'll post the question on that forum. Many Thanks,
Frank

Hi Frank,

Yes, make your text field into a movie clip or graphic symbol. To do
this, just select it and hit F8 (Windows), or from the main menu choose
Modify->Convert to symbol...

Then, animate the text field to fade in.

If your effect isn't working, try embedding the font outlines (select
"Character..." in your Properties inspector).

Patrick

Hi-
In case anybody cares, I did experiment and got some results. Ironically,
the more complicated senario worked better. That is, I had dynamic text
field set up within a movie clip (for purposes of using an ez text
component) and I was able to convert the movie clip to a graphic (so I guess
that made it a nested symbol of sorts) and do an alpha/motion tween. And it
worked beautifully so that the text fades in well.
As I mentioned, there's an ironic part - when I tried converting just a
Dyn text field by itself on the main timeline to a graphic and doing an
aplha/motion tween to it, I got no fade in effect at all. While I was able
to "do" the procedures on the timeline without any visible problems, as far
as the actual results and getting the effect I wanted, it did not work for
some reason.
Thanks,...Frank
