flash (macromedia) : Linking to a pdf file and not a URL

I have created a simple presentation which can be played through flash player.
I want to create a link which will open up a pdf file. I have done it using the
"Get URL". However, when I play the presentation - click the button to open up
the .pdf file and Acrobat the web browser opens up too. Is there anyway to get
Acrobat to open without internet explorer opening. Is there another way to open
a pdf file using Flash or a bit of action script which I can insert - telling
my link to just open Acrobat without it being directed to a URL. I am new to
Flash so I hope this makes sense to someone out there.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Its a bit disapointing that Flash can't do what appears to be a simple action, anyway thanks again.

I have linked to a pdf where it just opens Acrobat reader by itself.
I simply made some text a link, with the text properties panel, and the link
aims to the pdf file. This was not done with a button, just plain text.
It opens the reader, not another browser window.

No , there is now way, Flash does not have such abilities.
You need 3rd party tools like Jstart from http://www.FlashJester.com

launchpad67a,

Can you further clarify how you did this in Flash.
Is the text a symbol of any kind?
How does it point to the pdf?
Thanks
