not if you want them to work :) There are too many browsers out there that
have problems .. on Mac in particular if you use the various methods (like
using document.write) to avoid the 'non-standard' <embed> tag.

Best answer .. use embed tag because it works for those browsers that need
it and is ignored by those that don't. Other solutions are asking for
trouble (especially if you try to be XHTML compliant).

XHTML (as far as flash movies is concerned) is a nice theory that simply
does not work in practise UNLESS you can control the browsers being used (eg
in an office intranet with known PC configurations).
