Maybe a dumb question... I am making a website: 5 pages. each page is a
separate HTML page with a Flash movie embedded in the middle of it. When I
navigate between my pages, I see a "flash" of white before the Flash movie
appears. I'm pretty sure the background of the Flash movie matches the
bckground of the HTML page.

You are seeing the place holder for the flash movie while it's loading.

If your html page background color is blue and your background color for you
flash movie is the default white, you'll see the white flash. If you change
your flash background color to blue to match your html page, you'll eliminate
the white flash.
